4-H Pit Master Food Challenge (BBQ Cookoff)

Date: May 4-5, 2018

Entry/Registration Deadline: All contestants are encouraged to enter by April 4, 2018.  Contestants can register/enter all the way up to the day of the contest.

Entry: $20.00 per Brisket, Spare Ribs, and Chicken entry. $5.00 per burger entry per team.
Enough meat and beans to serve the county delegation in attendance at Big Time in D9
(coordinate with other county BBQ cook-off teams)

Burger Bonanza entry consists of 2 “dressed” ready-to-eat 1/2 pound burgers cut in half (each half should be secured by tooth picks).

Added Award: $200.00 to the Best Youth Burger cooked on a Gas Grill!

All teams must provide their own electricity and water.

Saturday, May 5, 2018
All entries are due by 10:00 a.m.
Contestants providing their own supplies should participate in Chief Cook Meeting for BBQ cook off
Contestant needing supplies should be present at 11:30 a.m.
Judging begins at 1:00 p.m.

Friday, May 4, 2018
2:00 pm – 8:00 pm Check in and set-up
7:00 pm First meat inspection & Chief Cooks Meeting

Saturday, May 5, 2018
7:00 am – 10:00 am Check in and set-up
8:00 am- Final meat inspection (need only pass one of two inspections)
1:00 pm Judging begins
6:00 pm Awards Presentation

Judging Schedule (turn in times)
1:00 pm – Burgers
2:00 pm – Beans
2:30 pm – 1/2 Chicken
3:00 pm – Spare Ribs
3:30 pm – Brisket

    My 9 year old son would like to compete in the Burger Bonanza. Would he need to be on a team or can he do this individually?

    BBQ pits are welcomed!!!! Gas generators are great!

    To clarify are BBQ pits allowed or only grills? We have one that works off of wood. It says no electricity is provided but can we use our gas powered generators?
